Card: Ace of Wands

Subject: Introduction to the Ace of Wands

Today I want to talk about the Ace of Wands and the Ace of Cups. This is of course the beginning of our new tarot series where we learn and dive into the meanings of tarot cards (and eventually oracle and more) with the help of other metaphysical tools, and konnect the dots to get a deeper sense of why this card holds the energy it does. This first became something I wanted to discuss back when I found a chart online that correlated certain birth dates with a tarot card that rules said date. When I noticed there were no spaces / times picked for the Ace cards, I wondered why it was missing. But then I realized that the angles (ASC, IC, DC, MC) of our birth chart, in my opinion, are representations of the Ace cups. The Ascendant of a natural chart holds the energy of Ace of Wands. Aka the start of creation.

The IC, (near the 4th house) of a natural chart holds the energy of the Ace of Cups .

The DC, (opposite the ASC) of a natural chart holds the energy of the Ace of Swords.

& finally, the MC holds the energy of Ace of Pentacles.

Here’s a chart to show you what I’m referencing .

Now, there’s so much that could be said about the meanings of all of these, but to start we are only gonna talk about the basic things I see from the surface level. Starting with the Ace of Wands, which we can see is in place of the ASC when it comes to the ruling energy, we know two things of the bat:

- The AoW represents a new beginnings, especially on a personal level. The ASC is literally YOU. So when the AoW comes out in your spread, you should know something that involved YOU, your body, your mind, your life path, your personality, and even your perception of life itself is changing in an exciting, action packed way.

- We also know the AoW represents starting new things through old experiences. I say that because of how the Ace of Wands has the 10 of Cups behind it & the 2 of Wands in front of it. This means the AoW can represent how you turn emotionally fulfilling things into new adventures. It shows how your soul can feel complete (10) and be ready to move on. The AoW coming out in a spread can very well represent MAKING memories. Turning experiences into something that can physically be looked back on. Think of how you can turn a memory into art. The process, the picture, the patience, all of that comes with the AoW. Because the AoW represents PASSION. It represents a new purpose being formed. The 10 of Cups being the “unconscious” side of the AoW makes sense because our drive and motivations usually have some deeper meaning to them in the first place. And the 2 of Wands being the conscious side reveals the way we know it’s time to attract new people, new support, new ideas, and new inspiring connections when we see the Ace of Wands. The Ace of Wands represents so much more than new ideas. It’s the start of life. It’s the actual process of fire turning into a physical element. It’s a sign that something we fulfilled in the last life is about to be rewarded in this one. We can trust the emotions that felt worth embracing and let go of the ones that we don’t align with. The Ace of Wands is a sign of a destined canvas being prepared.

When you see the Ace of Wands in your spread:

- new beginnings

- creating something with a soul purpose - finally feeling energetic again

- creating through physical activity

- getting recognized for your presence

- attracting new people

- going after a single goal

- courage
